Like many other companies, Biotec Klute used organic monitoring blocks in the beginning. These quickly began to mold when damp and served as food for pests such as rats, mice, ants and beetles. Thus, they had to be changed every month, if not more often.
On average, Biotec used approximately 60,000 monitoring blocks per year. This corresponds to a workload of 60,000 work steps x 3 minutes, i.e. 180,000 work minutes or 3,000 work hours. Calculated over a whole year, this results in a considerable expenditure of time and money. Above all, in most cases the baits were not pitted at all, but had to be replaced because of mold or the like.
When the NARA products came on the market, Biotec switched to NARA Bloc. These monitoring blocks only had to be changed every 3 months, which corresponds to an annual consumption of approx. 20,000 pieces. Unlike organic blocks, NARA Bloc did not start to mold and therefore lasted much longer. After a year, Biotec got into the habit of leaving many of the blocks - wherever there was low infestation - because they found that the blocks smelled even longer. In addition, Biotec sprayed the older NARA Bloc with NARA Spray. This meant that they lasted another 2-3 months longer.
As a result, Biotec had a significantly lower workload of 40,000 steps x 3 minutes. This corresponds to approx. 2,000 hours and calculated with an hourly rate of 30€, this is 60,000€ that Biotec saved by using NARA.
In addition, the pests were not fed - which is the case with organic baits. Due to the high moisture and general weather resistance, the NARA blocks did not mold and many technicians claimed that some NARA still "smelled" even after a year. Therefore, some continued to use them even after 3 months, since in 85% of all properties there is a low infestation and there monitoring is sufficient.
An important point is also the conformity of NARA products with the AIB and IFS standard. Both products, NARA Stic and NARA Bloc, fulfill the requirement of AIB and may contribute to fulfill the IFS Pest Control requirements. This is especially interesting for companies in the food industry. Biotec has received only positive feedback from them regarding NARA.
